The beginning of a new school year signals so much about to come in for the rest of the year.
But the First Day of School is one of the most anticipated days of the whole year
Fall is almost here and thoughts of autumn holidays and fall clothing renew me again with excitement. I mean, this time of year offers tremendous creative possibilites in and out of the home, and in fashion and beauty as well. Before we put on the winter hat, it's time to rock a fashion hat or cap. I am looking forward to see what I can find that's good in the shops. Hey, let me know what you find that you think is great. Email me too, but a post is even better. Since I live here in New York City, I know we've got plenty of options, but I also check out internet sites too, because my dawgs (the feet) ain't what they used to be.
College of Staten Island, walking past 1P building on my way to 1A, to work.
The campus is so beautiful all times of the year.
And, how 'bout some food for thought-
These delicious fried wontons desserts were made because I saw Giada De Laurentiis make these on her show on the Food Network. They looked so simple to cook and with just a few simple ingredients, it was a must dessert to eat. You cannot eat just one of these, so use the whole package of wontons and feed your crowd (or if you don't really want the crowd, feed yourself, no shame, it's okay).
Try to hold off eating the little temptations until you've fried them all. First, so you won't burn your mouth and they can cool properly. And second, you have less chance to burn any because they fry up quickly. Then, your reward for your patience is a mouth full of oozing warm chocolate!
More to eat-
I really like to eat good food. But as I am still working (an assistanship) after a most difficult and physically exhausting semester of classes, I am ready to call it ____( I don't know what it is yet, maybe because my summer of plans and things to do are mostly coming to a bust, the energy I want is just not there, here, anywhere). I also must realize that I am not financially able to cook as I would like to, although, I am very thrilled about my thriftyness, due to my circumstances. I have become daring in the kitchen with creativity where the purse lacks the cash, so I can make some pretty tasty dishes on very few ingredients and have come to appreciate meals that taste really flavorful with just a few precious ingredients.
I usually love to browse cookbooks for simple recipes (I can't bear complicated, multi-step recipes, too time-consuming for this mother) with really good ingredients so that I can know before I get cooking what the dish will pretty much taste like (this is possible due to my having years of experience as a cook and having a most elaborate foodie memory bank stored in my head, a sort of flavor and ingredient database) when the cooking is complete ( cheeky!).
But, I seek adventure in cooking and that is why I love food blogs. Oh, my! There is just so much out there! So of course, my favorite blogs list is GROWING!
Well, for the here and now, I mean right now, and the easy- is a delicious brownie recipe that is a part of this mother's desserts the fast and easy way. And then add to it a craving, like for instance cream cheese, ice cream, caramels, pecans........
I keep this recipe from Bakers -One bowl brownie recipe which is a recipe that I rely on often for that quick, mix, pour, bake and eat right away feeling I get pretty much every week.
I added cream cheese to this. I f you look inside the package of unsweetened chocolate squares, there are variations to the original brownie recipe. Yummy!
I have been wanting for sometime to learn how to quilt. I mean I have the concept in my head about stitching and such. But what was even mostly lovlier was this box of goodies I won from Quilt 'n' Stitch I was so happy to see those pretty fabrics (textiles excite me!)!
I now need a few things, like quilt supplies and I hope to purchase these in the near future, as my meager salary for which I am wholeheartedly grateful for does only allow for a few luxuries a month. Oh well, the woes of a master's assistantship. Anyway ......
I try not to look at my circumstances too much, and I focus on my blessings, and keep moving forward.
And most of all I try to always remember to smile
like him!
Here is a wonderful way to give to many young girls and feel great about it, I mean really great. Enchanted Makeovers has a project called dream makeovers that can give inspiration to young girls and help inspire them through decoration and art, by the kindness of others. Check it out!

Delicious homemade blondies
Broiled, sticky chicken supper and a good read which I started today, Little, Big which is lengthy but I am determined to read it. I have had a very stressful semester this past spring and I have suffered from vertigo in an awful way, so, I am trying to slow the pace of stress in my life by doing things that can help me destress and accomplish more personal fulfillment.
I read the book, by Jane Brocket, The Gentle Art Of Domesticity. I first took it out of the library in my neighborhood and after reading it, I knew that I had to have my own copy. In the book, Jane Brocket shows very delicious looking confections and also a paste food coloring kit from Squires, a sugarcraft company in England. I ordered a few of those pastes and then I also ordered a pan from a company that Mrs. Brocket also mentions in her book on domestic life fromNordicWare that is a cupcake pan called Backyard Bugs.
We used the cupcake recipe for Golden Vanilla Cupcakes from the book Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World by Isa Chandra Moskowitz & Terry Hope Romero. But, for frosting, my daughters and I used the lemon frosting recipe from Mrs.Brocket'sbook and used the paste coloring to create the lovely colors. Very scrumptious!
I am the mother of four with aspirations to educate other people's children, in addition to my own.
